About Valley Plumbing & Electric

Learn About Our History & Values

How We Started

Our company began in 1966 when George H. Bos founded the business with a commitment to reliable, hardworking service. When George retired, ownership passed to his son Jerry Bos and employee Sid VanderMey, and the company was officially incorporated in 1984. Over the years, leadership continued to transition through trusted hands, including Jason’s brother, Butch VanderVeen, who eventually became the sole owner. During this time, the company also operated a retail store in Sumas, serving the local community directly.

In 2018, Jason and Darlene VanderVeen took over the business, continuing the legacy built over decades. When a major flood damaged the Sumas building in 2022, the company relocated—but remained committed to the same values it was founded on: hard work, integrity, and dependable service.

Today, Jason and Darlene are actively involved in the daily operations of the business. Jason works on the electrical side, bringing hands-on experience and a strong problem-solving approach to every job, while Darlene helps manage the office, ensuring clear communication and a smooth, organized experience for every customer.

As a family-run business, this work is personal. They are raising three children, and one is already working in the company as an electrician, continuing the next generation of skilled trades and service.
